When something amazing is about to happen...

When Stella turned up on my paper, I imagined someone rooted in the sky, in infinity, in possibilities (ok technically that would not be possible but in my world it is). I imagined someone who at the blink of an eye could give us that warm fussy feeling, you know the one - when something amazing is just about to happen...

I said to Stella that in fact she reminds me of spring: layers upon layers, so much going on behind the scenes, so much we really don’t get to see but we know is happening... only to amaze us with a sudden explosion of expression...

Artwork is a lot like that too; so in this post i  wanted to share a little bit of the layers involved in my work process and i made this Gif below - but you can see the finished picture HERE.

All we need to do now is wait and see what magic turns up.
(This might take a while so perhaps it’s a good idea do something else too :)

Material used:I have received a few emails asking me what material I use in my work; It depends really. For this one I used colored pencils(Prismacolor, Lyra and Derwent colorsoft; Verithin for detail work such as the eyes; a small amount of gouache with dry brush, toothbrush spraying with gouache; mixed media paper. In the final image: filters & retouching in Photoshop).
